The device runs Mozilla’s own Firefox OS, originally designed for smartphones, and is apparently referred to as “Netcast” within the Firefox browser. Unlike Apple’s current offering, the Netcast would allow developers to integrate the technology into applications on a wide variety of operating systems and hardware devices, including many platforms not currently supported by the Apple’s AirPlay feature....

Apple’s attempt at 99-cent TV show rentals is off to a choppy start, with NBC Universal chief exec Jeff Zucker saying his network ain’t about to follow Fox and Walt Disney to rent movies via the service. Zucker argues that renting shows at these prices would undermine the value of the shows, “We do not think 99 cents is the right price point for our content. … We thought it would devalue our content,” Zucker said at a Goldman Sachs investor conference, as reported by Reuters....

In March Apple decided to add “offers in-app purchases” warnings in iTunes and on the App Store following a class action lawsuit brought on by parents arguing the iOS freemium model, i.e. in-app purchases, allowed children to easily rack up thousands of dollars. Today, as noted by AppAdvice, Apple has now added a new “Learn More About In-App Purchases” section on the App Store detailing how in-app purchases work and how parents can manage they preferences through Parental Controls (pictured below)....

Now that Green Lantern has been confirmed to have a place on HBO Max in the shape of a TV series, that likely means the previously-announced movie for DCEU isn’t happening anymore. During a special presentation, WarnerMedia revealed details about its streaming platform HBO Max, such as the price, launch date, and the content users will be able to enjoy, including titles currently in development, like a Green Lantern TV show....

A new supply-chain report supports long-running rumors that this year’s iPhone will abandon aluminum in favor of glass back and front.
