The iPhone has become a mature platform for health and fitness software in recent years, especially since iOS 8 introduced HealthKit and the dedicated Health app followed by ResearchKit and a new set of medical apps. Today a new app called One Drop is launching with an ambitious goal: to help people with diabetes live a happier and healthier life.
The One Drop app is both a dashboard and a community on the iPhone and Apple Watch for people with diabetes. The goal is to make tracking glucose levels, food habits, insulin intake, and activity to reveal patterns about what behaviors make you feel a certain way. One Drop’s community feature aims to make diabetes a less lonely disease by allowing users to share insights about what practices are best for people managing life with diabetes.
One Drop users can manually log glucose levels throughout the day and file meals with photos and tags including mood and location. Users can also log insulin intake by the amount and record physical activity. The app also allows users to compare glucose readings throughout the day and see which meals, activities, and insulin levels contributed to positive or poor readings and make better decisions based on that insight.
The community aspect of One Drop gives users a way to share best practices with other people living with diabetes and provides a way to offer encouragement to people going through the same journey. Overall, the One Drop app’s user interface is very welcoming and fits in with Apple’s upcoming Activity app for Apple Watch. As mentioned before, One Drop features an Apple Watch companion app making One Drop even more accessible throughout the day.
One Drop iOS features include:
- Powerful data driven insights
