Sebastian Stan is an American-Romanian actor who grew to fame during his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He plays Bucky Barnes, who later becomes the Winter Solider in Captain America: The First Avenger. Bucky was a friend of Steve’s that died in the war, but now he is so much more than that.
Sebastian did not begin his acting career in Captain America, however. In fact, he was in multiple TV shows before and after that. Sometimes it’s easy to forget these actors are not the just superheroes an are actors playing many different roles in a variety of mediums.

Hope Ann Greggory was a gymnast who won a bronze medal, though now she just lives at home, not doing much of anything. Sebastian Stan plays Olympic Gold medalist, Lance Tucker, who is also the love interest in this dramedy.
We Have Always Lived In This Castle
Another movie people forgot Sebastian Stan was in is We Have Always Lives in this Castle, which is based on a book of the same name. This movie was directed by Stacie Passon and written by Mark Kruger.
Merricat and Constance Blackwood have always lived alone on their family estate with their uncle Julian. When Charles Blackwood, played by Sebastian Stan, comes to the castle and starts talking to Constance, he tries to show her the world. Will it work, or will they have to take drastic measures?
Logan Lucky
This movie has a bunch of twists and turns, as any other good heist movie does. This movie has a great cast including Channing Tatum, Adam Driver, Katie Holmes, Daniel Craig, and a variety of great other actors and actresses. This movie is about the Logan family trying to rob the Charlotte Motor Speedway while also trying not to get caught by the FBI. Sebastian Stan plays Dayton White, a NASCAR driver that lets it be known he is extremely healthy. Will the Logans get away with this incredible heist?
Political Animals
Political Animals was a mini-series in 2012 that starred Sigourney Weaver on the USA Network and ran from July 15 to August 19, 2012. This show is about Elaine Barrish, who was married to the former president of the United States until it came out that he was having an affair.
In the show, Elaine has two sons: two twin brothers named Thomas James “T.J.” Hammond, played by Sebastian Stan, and Douglas Hammond, played by James Wolk.
Black Swan
A lot of people will not remember that Sebastian Stan was in Black Swan, probably because he did not have that big of a part. The Black Swan stars Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, Winona Ryder, Barbara Hershey, and Vincent Cassel. This movie is about the struggles and hardships of a professional Ballerina and her struggles to become the star of the show.
Sebastian Stan plays Andrew, just a guy in the club when Lily gives Nina an ecstasy pill. Andrew tries to flirt with Nina, but she just laughs at him. Let’s just say they did not go home together.
The Martian
Sebastian Stan was in the 2015 hit movie The Martian, based on the book of the same name. This film was directed by Ridley Scott and starred Matt Damon trapped on Mars and growing potatoes. The Ares III crew has to come up with a way to save their comrade.
Sebastian played Chris Beck, an astronaut and a surgeon on the Ares III mission. Chris was a graduate of Yale school of Medicine and had a Masters in Biomedical Science. He also may have had a child with someone else on the Ares III mission, but you’ll have to watch the movie to see. Hint Hint: it’s not Matt Damon.
Kings
Kings was an NBC series that ran from March 3 to July 25, 2009 and stared Sebastian Stan. The show only ran for one season and was loosely based on the story of King David.
Sebastian Stan plays the son of King Silas Benjamin of Gilboa named Prince Jonathon Benjamin. He was a major in the army and is next in line for the throne. He is known for his skills on the battlefield and is looked up to. While in the public eye he is a man great with the ladies who parties way too much, the truth is much different. He works hard to achieve the thrones, but his father does not approve of his homosexuality.
Gossip Girl
Yes, Sebastian Stan was on the ever so popular Gossip Girl. He played a boy both Serena Van Der Wooden and Blair Waldorf would get with in the mere eleven episodes he was in. Sebastion’s character in this helped clean up after Hurricane Katrina and also has a gambling problem.
His debut episode was “Bad News Blair,” and his last was “The Unblairable Lightness of Being.” His first appearance in the show is when he is partying with Chuck Bass and Nate Archibald during the Lost Weekend celebration and he brings a quite the storm with him.
Law & Order
Sebastian Stan being in Law & Order is not surprising as it seems a lot of actors made their start on the show. This episode was called “Sheltered” and was part of season 13 episode 22. The episode was directed by Richards Dobbs and written by Terri Kopp.
Sebastian Stan plays Justin Lafferty who was kidnapped at the age of 5 and was raised by the kidnapper, Herman Capshaw. Where Herman worked, they were having problems, so his boss, Charlie Rodriguez, was going to fire Capshaw. That’s when Justin shoots him and a bunch of other people so that Herman does not get fired.
Hot Tub Time Machine
The last movie everyone forgot Sebastian Stan was in is 2010’s Hot Tub Time Machine. It is a science fiction comedy film starring John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Clark Duke as the main cast.
This is a wild ride of a movie, but Sebastian Stan is only a side character. He plays a ski-patroller bully named Blaine. This is Sebastian’s twelfth role he has played, and he was only 25- 26 when the movie was shot. While this was one of his biggest movies in 2010, he would go on to become a main character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
