Gaming phones are becoming more and more popular these days. Asus, Nubia, and Razer were one of the first companies to launch a gaming phone. The phones got a good response from the consumers. Lately, we have seen more companies taking interest in them as many brands like Meizu, etc. are also coming up with such devices. The recent one comes from Nubia, which is the third iteration of the Red Magic series and is named “Red Magic 3”.

The phone is filled with high-end specs and some unique features. From the inside, it is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 855 mobile platform along with Adreno 640 GPU. It can handle any graphics intensive game you throw at it quite easily. Heating is also not an issue as the phone comes with a built-in fan along with liquid cooling to push all the heat out. Nubia claims that the small fan runs quietly and can spin up to 14,000 rpm. The fan also gets an IP55 certification and is isolated inside a chamber so that liquids or dust particles don’t get inside. This cooling system is said to be 5 times better than the normal cooling systems we see on smartphones.

On the front, the phone gets a 6.65-inch Full HD+ HDR AMOLED display with rounded corners on all 4 sides. It also doesn’t include a notch so that you don’t get any interference while playing games. The display has a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It also has front-facing stereo speakers with DTS:X surround sound support. For the streamers, 3 mics are available in the phone for excellent noise cancellation. Thankfully, the 3.5mm audio jack has not been removed.

The phone has a single 48 MP Sony IMX586 camera sensor on the back. It is probably the first smartphone which is capable of capturing videos in 8K. Also, the first smartphone to capture slow motion videos with 1,920 frames per second. Though, the camera still misses things like optical zoom and night photography as companies like Huawei, Oppo, etc. are pushing it to a whole next level. On the front side, it has a 16MP f/2.2 camera.

The phone runs on stock android like Android 9. It also has a hardware switch to toggle “Red Magic Game Space 2.0” dashboard. You can find the games on your phone listed here with some cool settings like fan speed, screen recording, etc. A big 5000 mAh battery is included to keep the phone alive during long gaming sessions. It also supports 27W fast charging, which Nubia claims allows to play 1 hour of gaming by charging for just 10 mins. The phone has an RGB LED strip at the back which supports approx 16.8 million colours and can be customised by the user. The phone also has various add-on attachments like a dock, gamepad, 5G modem etc.

Pricing and availability:

The phone is available in 4 storage variants: 6+64 GB, 6+128 GB, 8+128 GB and 12+256 GB. The pricing starts from 2899 Yuan (for the 6+64 GB variant), 3199 Yuan (for the 6+128 GB variant), 3499 Yuan (for the 8+128 GB variant), and 4299 Yuan (for the 12+256 GB variant).
