Norton Crypto, a new feature of Norton 360 that allows users to mine the Ethereum cryptocurrency while their computer is idle, has recently been introduced by cybersecurity giant Norton.
Some users have expressed dissatisfaction with the company, stating that they are unable to delete the application.
Norton Crypto does not run in the background all of the time. It may be turned on and off manually by the user. Users are put in a pool with other Norton Crypto users to increase efficiency, and everyone shares the mining benefits. It is intended to be a secure and straightforward method of mining Ethereum.
However, some users claim that there is no way to uninstall the programme entirely and that you have to delete NCrypt.exe from your computer’s directory manually.
That may not seem like a huge problem. Still, Norton has a complicated relationship with its users, and the business has been criticized for lack of transparency and failure to delete files when deleted.
Norton Crypto is not compatible with all systems since it requires particular hardware to function. An Nvidia graphics card with at least 6GB of RAM and Windows 7 or later are required. Norton Crypto is not compatible with Mac OS X or Windows 10 S.
Norton earns a significant portion of the bitcoin once it has been mined. When you move your cryptocurrency to a new wallet, the firm takes 15% off the top and variable transaction costs. Since subscribers are already paying for the service, it appears to be a win-win situation for Norton.
So far, there don’t appear to be any serious security problems, other than the complex way for opting out of Norton Crypto.
