Google has been teasing several beta updates for Android Pie OS for a while now. But finally last Monday, Google launched the official stable version of Android 9.0 Pie which was sent to all Google Pixel devices and Essential Phones. Smartphones under Google’s Android Beta program will soon receive the update. Talking about Nokia particularly, Nokia has committed to upgrading all the Nokia smartphones starting the budget Nokia 1 to the high-end Nokia 8 Sirocco among other smartphones.
Android 9.0 Pie brings a plethora of features to the eligible smartphones such as unified fingerprint dialog, Digital Wellbeing, adaptive battery, gesture navigation, image previews, smart replies, new material design, new media controls, app actions, multitasking, and a bunch of other features that make Android Pie a must-have feature-rich OS.
Wi-FI RTT – Android Pie supports Wi-Fi Round-Trip-Time (RTT) that enables users to track his/her location inside a building such as a mall or an office and provides turn-by-turn directions to the destination that eases indoor navigation.
Gesture-based Navigation – Similar to Apple X’ gesture navigation, Android Pie allows users to swipe between apps using gestures at the bottom of the screen. It doesn’t require pressing a button as the gesture navigation UI enables swiping between recent apps, open app drawer and revert to the last window.
Dashboard – This particular feature tracks the user’s on-screen time on various apps such as Netflix, Facebook, Gmail, etc. It tracks time spent on an app on each day basis and also tracks the number of notifications received and a number of times user unlocked the phone, etc.
Adaptive Battery – The adaptive battery feature on Android Pie enables smarter usage of battery by reducing access to power for rarely used apps. It utilizes the available battery smartly and thus, reduces CPU app wakeups by 30% thereby allowing the battery to last longer.
Notch Support – Android Pie brings notch support to the devices which mean, the OS is optimized for cutouts or notches. It provided a seamless edge-to-edge display. the user can hide the notch on their smartphones.
Handy screenshots – Taking screenshots on Android Pie is simply easy. Press the power button and select screenshot and there you have it. Well, Android Pie also allows the user to tweak the screenshot taken by providing certain editing tools before saving the picture.

Nokia 1 Android 9.0 Pie Update
The Nokia 1 is a budget smartphone with 4.5” IPS LCD display and a 480×854 pixel resolution. It was launched in February 2018 with MediaTek quad-core 1.1 GHz processor with scaled-down Android 8.1 Oreo Go. It may not be the greatest in terms of specs but it will surely get its Android 9.0 Pie update as early as by the end of this month. Stunned? Nokia 2 Android 9.0 Pie Update
Nokia 2 is a $150 budget smartphone feature entry-level Snapdragon 212 chipset with 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. As per its OS, it was launched with Android 7.1.1 Nougat preloaded with a planned upgrade to Android 8.1 Oreo. Citing Nokia commitment to provide upgrade updates for all its devices released between the timeframe of last 2 years, Nokia 2 will get Android Pie update as soon as by the end of this year. Launched in May 2018, Nokia 2.1 is a budget smartphone featuring a 5.5” HD IPS LCD display with Snapdragon 425 quad-core 1.4 GHz and Adreno 308 GPU under the hood. It has a 1GB RAM with 8GB internal storage and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Go edition which is a scaled-down version of full-fledged Oreo OS. Priced at around $155, Nokia 3 is powered by quad-core MediaTek chipset with 16+8MP rear and 8MP front camera setup. It has internal storage of 16MP coupled with 2GB RAM which makes it quite a decent phone in a sub-$150 category. Talking about Nokia 6, the smartphone has midrange specifications such as SD430 octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. With 5.5” IPS LCD screen with a screen-to-body ratio of 70.7%, the device boasts 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 16:9. The device has a 32GB/3GB RAM and 64GB/4GB RAM variant both with rear single camera setup with dual-LED. It originally ran on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and later, it sent updates to 8.0 Oreo. The device is powered by the 16MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and 1.12-pixel size along with a 5MP front snapper. Launched with Android Nougat 7.1.1, it is currently upgradable to Android 8.1 Oreo but not for too long as it will receive its Android 9.0 Pie update by the end of this fall starting this August for some devices. Nokia 7 Plus is one of the flagship smartphones under Google’s Android One program sporting Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor bundled with 4GB RAM and 12+13MP rear dual-camera setup. Nokia 7 Plus has launched this year in March with Android 8.1 Oreo but it has already started receiving Android 9.0 Pie update. It is the first device to get the update and other Nokia smartphones will follow soon. Nokia 8 Android 9.0 Pie Update
Nokia 8 is a powerful yet cheaper variant of Nokia 8 Sirocco that features IP54 splash proof resistance with front glass and 6000 series aluminum body. The device originally runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat that can be further upgraded to the Android 8.1 Oreo but that’s not all. Nokia 8 Sirocco Android 9.0 Pie Update
Nokia 8 Sirocco is presently the most expensive Nokia smartphone which comes with a 5.5” P-OLED display sporting 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and protected by a sturdy Corning Gorilla Glass 5. With Snapdragon 835 SoC and a 6GB RAM, the device works flawlessly with any and every app or task you can throw at it. The device is powered by Android One and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo and will soon receive its Android 9.0 Pie share as it is a high-end flagship smartphone.
