After launching some pretty impressive phones last year like the Nokia 5.1 Plus, we expected the company might be serious about the Indian market and launch more cost-effective devices here. Well, things didn’t happen as expected, and the newly launched Nokia 4.2 is a perfect example.

Specifications:

The Nokia 4.2 is powered by the mid-range Snapdragon 439 mobile platform built on 12 nm process. The chipset isn’t new as it was launched in Q2 last year. It is an octa-core processor with 8x Cortex A53 cores and has a clock speed of up to 2.0 GHz. The phone comes in 2+16 GB and 3+32 GB memory variants, but only the later has been made available in India.

On the front, the phone has a 5.71-inch HD+ display with a screen resolution of 1520×720 pixels. The screen has a water drop notch on the top which houses a selfie camera, and a slightly big bezel on the bottom with the NOKIA branding. Talking about the cameras, there are dual cameras at the back with a primary 13 MP sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a 2 MP secondary depth sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. An 8 MP selfie shooter is present at the front inside the water drop notch. The phone comes with 2.5D glass on both front and back sides giving it some premium feel. It gets a decent 3,000 mAh battery with a micro USB charging port. The Nokia 4.2 runs on Android One and comes with Android 9 Pie inside. Rest specifications include Bluetooth 4.2, 3.5mm audio jack, dual sim VoLTE, etc.

Price and availability:

The 3+32 GB variant of the phone launched in India has been priced at Rs. 10,990. It will go on sale on Nokia’s official website starting today. On May 14, it will also be available for purchase on some selected outlets in India like Croma, Poorvika, Sangeetha, Reliance, MyG and Big C. From May 21, the phone will be made available in all other major retail outlets in the country. You can get a discount of Rs. 500 by using the coupon code “LAUNCHOFFER” on HMD India’s official website. The offer is valid until June 10.

Well, the 10k price doesn’t justify the phone’s specifications like the HD display, Snapdragon 439 Soc, etc. Even Nokia’s own 5.1 Plus launched last year has better specifications and price than this phone. While we don’t recommend you, you can buy the phone if you are a true Nokia fan and love Android One.
