The full Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer may not arrive until after Avengers: Endgame, potentially due to spoilers and Sony’s marketing plan. For a few years now, Marvel Studios has released three entries in their Marvel Cinematic Universe over the course of each calendar year. Now, 2019 won’t be any different, with Captain Marvel already in theaters, Avengers: Endgame debuting next month and Spider-Man: Far From Home arriving in July. Endgame is arguably the most highly anticipated film of the three, since it will pick up from the cliffhanger ending of Avengers: Infinity War and close out Phase 3 of the MCU. It also concludes the narrative of the entire MCU thus far, a story termed the Infinity Saga by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige.

Still, fans are eager to see Tom Holland return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Far From Home, especially since last viewers saw of him, he was being decimated as part of Thanos’ snap. Considering Infinity War wiped out half of all life in the universe, though, it’s been expected that Endgame will see the Avengers figure out a way to reverse the snap and bring the fallen heroes back to life. That said, with Avengers: Endgame being Marvel’s most secretive project yet, the studio is keeping a tight lid on everything related to the story and its impact on the MCU as a whole. In fact, it may be impacting when Sony will release the next Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer.

The first Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer was released in mid-January and now fans are looking forward to the debut of the full trailer. Daniel Richtman tweeted that the next Far From Home trailer won’t be released until after Endgame hits theaters in late April because the teaser includes spoilers for the latest Avengers movie. Further, the full Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer releasing in May is comparable to Sony’s marketing for Spider-Man: Homecoming. For that film, the teaser trailer debuted in early December 2016, then the full trailer in late March 2017. If Far From Home follows a similar trailer release timeline, the full trailer will arrive sometime in May.

So, it’s still unknown for certain whether the full Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer is being held until after Avengers: Endgame releases because of spoilers or Sony always planned to release the second teaser after Endgame and decided to include spoilers for that reason. Arguably, any Far From Home trailer that features any of the MCU characters decimated in Thanos’ snap is a spoiler, though Sony has so far avoided that trap by not specifying whether the Spider-Man sequel takes place before or after Avengers: Endgame - at least with its footage. Of course, Sony producer Amy Pascal previously stated Spider-Man: Far From Home picks up minutes after Avengers: Endgame, so Spidey’s fate may have already been spoiled.

For now, fans will have to wait and see what Sony has up their sleeves in terms of promoting Spider-Man: Far From Home ahead of its July release date. Recently, Holland unveiled new Spider-Man: Far From Home posters that depict the wall-crawler in various famous cities around Europe. Since the actor teased the release of those posters last week, it’s likely fans will get a heads up of some kind before the full Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer is released, whether that be before or after Avengers: Endgame hits theaters.
