It is certainly not breaking news to state that the DCEU – specifically The Batman, with Ben Affleck stepping down as director – has received some bad press lately. That being said, everything on the Wonder Woman front still appears to be coming up roses. Sure, there has been the occasional negative story here and there, but for the most part, it would seem as though the moviegoing public is ready for a female-led superhero film featuring Diana Prince, a.k.a. Wonder Woman.
Relationships on set appear to be strong from the outsider’s perspective; Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot even went as far as to call director, Patty Jenkins, “her sister,” in a Facebook post last week. Gadot has been the star of numerous front-page photo shoots in recent months, sporting the iconic look, and various interviews find Gal saying all the right words as she strives to be a positive role model for young female audiences. However, all of this positive buzz goes to the wayside if the film is not received well by audiences. Luckily, Wonder Woman’s hype has already been bolstered by impressive trailers, and by the looks of it, we might be treated to another preview as early as next week.
According to Alberta Film Ratings, a new trailer for the Wonder Woman film has recently been classified, and thusly is ready to air in front of feature screenings in theaters. This classification is a sign that we could see a brand new Wonder Woman trailer as early as next week.
The general consensus is pointing to a Wonder Woman preview debuting in front of another upcoming Warner Bros. blockbuster, Kong: Skull Island, which arrives in American theaters March 10, 2017. The impending trailer comes in at just under two-and-a-half minutes and has been rated ‘PG’ according to the respective website.
As recently displayed by Warner Bros. latest comic book endeavors – Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad respectively – the studio’s marketing team knows how to promote a film. Despite negative reviews from fans and critics alike, both pictures performed admirably at the box office, thanks in part to strong opening weekends. However, the entertainment giant aspires to change the conversation with a pair of quality films in 2017 (Wonder Woman and superhero team-up tentpole, Justice League).
With Wonder Woman being the first of the two, Warner Bros. and fans hope that Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot can usher in a new era for the franchise by delivering a fantastic, girl-powered superhero flick.
