Star Wars Celebration 2017 was filled with plenty of memorable moments, from the cast and creators appearing on stage with one another to commemorate four decades of movies and stories set in a galaxy far, far away to the highly anticipated (and now highly scrutinized) teaser trailer for Star Wars VIII: The Last Jedi to the announcement that Star Wars Rebels would come to an end in season 4, there was a little something for everyone – including the toy collector. As was expected, Celebration had plenty of merchandise on hand for attendees and those keeping tabs via the internet all weekend, and Hasbro didn’t disappoint, revealing 14 new figures at the celebration.
Hasbro has been making waves (and happy fans) with its recent additions the Black Series of actions figures. The 6" highly detailed and articulated figures are recreations of popular Star Wars moments, and the toy company delivered some must haves earlier in the week by showing off the new Rey and Luke Skywalker figures, each with their own desert-friendly mode of transportation. While the promise of new figures for two of the most sought-after characters from the series is certainly tantalizing, Hasbro wasn’t done there, dropping a first look at several more figures that will likely have fans loosening their purse strings later this year.

Hasbro also announced that it will launch a new series of figures in 2018, called the Vintage Collection.
With Disney and Lucasfilm planning new Star Wars films, TV shows, and video games for the foreseeable future, expect the toy line inspired by those products to continue to expand and to find ways to cash in, both on fans nostalgia and excitement for what’s to come.
