Godzilla intimidates humanity in the new TV spot for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Warner Bros. is rapidly approaching the release of the biggest entry yet in their MonsterVerse. The cinematic universe began with Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla in 2014 and was expanded upon with Kong: Skull Island in 2017, and now it’s time for the god of destruction to return in a starring role.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters serves as the sequel to the previous hit and will help set the stage for Godzilla vs Kong next year. In order to prepare for a crossover with King Kong himself, Godzilla will have multiple kaiju to take down. His sequel features Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan, all of whom have been heavily featured in the marketing so far. The epic trailers WB has released to this point have repeatedly teased the coming conflict, and now a new TV spot provides even more new footage.
Warner Bros. released the “Intimidation” Godzilla: King of the Monsters TV spot recently, which kicks off with the titular Titan lighting up his back to intimidate the humans who are watching and studying him. As Thomas Middleditch confirms, the tactic works on the group. From there, the TV spot highlights many of the different kaiju who will make appearances in the film. Watch the full spot below:
Just like most of the recent marketing materials for King of the Monsters, WB is selling the movie with the monster mayhem that it’s set to hold. There’s more teases of Rodan and Ghidorah facing off in the sky, and then it once again ends with the money shot of the marketing so far: Godzilla and Ghidorah charging at each other through a terrible storm. We also get some ominous voice over by Charles Dance’s character (who’s likely the villain) saying that Pandora’s box has been opened and cannot be closed now.
As much attention as Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and Ghidorah have received in all of the various marketing materials for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, they’re not going to be the only Titans who make an appearance in the film. Director Michael Dougherty has confirmed that additional kaiju will be featured, and there’s been a few different teases regarding the identities of some. However, some theories are even suggesting that the sequel is going back to previous unused designs from the first film to add more monsters to this universe. With more TV spots likely on the way, the footage will continue to be dissected even further to see what other teases it might include.
