Netflix’s Queer Eye season 3 premieres Friday, March 15, as revealed in an annoucement video that also teases a new Carly Rae Jepsen song. A reboot of the early 2000s TV show, Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Netflix’s own version premiered in early 2018 to the praise of critics and casual viewers alike. The original series ran on Bravo from 2003 to 2007 and featured a team of five gay men - called the Fab Five - who each week gave a straight man a makeover in certain aspects of his life, from fashion to interior design. Netflix’s reboot brought in a new Fab Five and broadened the premise of the series to include folks other than straight men (though it should be noted the original series did expand its initial premise as well).
Netflix’s Queer Eye introduced viewers to the new Fab Five: grooming expert Jonathan Van Ness, fashion expert Tan France, food and wine expert Antoni Porowski, culture and lifestyle expert Karamo Brown and design expert Bobby Berk. The series premiered in February 2018, with Queer Eye season 2 arriving just four months later in June 2018. Shortly after, Netflix renewed Queer Eye for season 3, and now the upcoming season has a release date.
Netflix released an annoucement video revealing the premiere date of Queer Eye season 3 as Friday, March 15, which is little more than a month away. The video also includes a preview of Carly Rae Jepsen’s new single, “Now That I Found You,” though an official release date for the track has yet to be revealed. Watch the video below.
The March 15 premiere date for season 3 means Queer Eye will return with new episodes roughly a year and one month after it was initially released. Queer Eye season 3 will also see a notable change in that the Fab Five are heading to a new location. The first two seasons saw the group focus on residents of Atlanta, Georgia and the local area, but for season 3, they’re heading to Kansas City, Missouri. Queer Eye will also head to Japan for four special episodes that will be released at a later date, likely to tide fans over between seasons. Those do not yet have a premiere date.
Fans of Queer Eye will no doubt be excited to learn of the show’s imminent return. Certainly, it has become one of the more positive and delightful offerings from Netflix, alongside fellow original unscripted series Tidying Up With Marie Kondo and U.K. import The Great British Baking Show. As streaming libraries across several sites expand, it makes sense for them to include reality TV shows, which are a favorite for many viewers. And in little more than a month, one fan-favorite Netflix reality series will return when Queer Eye season 3 premieres.
