This week, Netflix is bringing more variety than in previous weeks, with a new type of talent show, a thriller, the second season of a horror series, and the long-awaited continuation of a very successful TV series. Netflix continues adding new movies and TV shows every week, along with licensed content to add more variety to its catalogue.
Last week saw the arrival of the third season of Big Mouth, the adaptation of Stephen King and Joe Hill’s novella In The Tall Grass, and a new superhero drama series with Raising Dion. The first week of October also had the pleasure of housing the full Scream saga, but only for six days.
Because October is the spookiest month of all, it’s only fitting that Netflix brings horror-related content this month. However, this week is pretty balanced, with a talent TV show, a thriller, a highly anticipated movie, and the second season of a horror series. Here are the best movies and TV shows coming to Netflix this weekend - October 11.
Rhythm + Flow
Talent TV shows have been the home of many big music stars, but they are overused by now. Netflix knows this and is now bringing a different type of talent show – one that is looking for a very specific type of artist. Rhythm + Flow aims to find the new breakout hip-hop star, with the help of Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and T.I, who also serve as producers. They are joined by other big names in the world of hip-hop, such as Snoop Dogg and DJ Khaled.
El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie
The moment Breaking Bad fans have been waiting for is finally here. Since the series came to an end in 2013, rumors about a movie had been floating around, until it was finally announced in February 2019. El Camino, directed by Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, is set after the series’ finale, “Felina”, in which Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) escaped from his captors and pursued freedom while being hunted by law enforcement officers. It’s about time fans know what happened to him.
Fractured
If you are looking for a thriller to watch this weekend, Fractured is the one. Directed by Brad Anderson (The Machinist), Fractured follows Ray Monroe (Sam Worthington), his wife Joanne (Lily Rabe), and their daughter Peri (Lucy Capri), who go on a road trip. Peri falls and breaks her arm, and is taken to the hospital. After a few problems, Ray passes out from exhaustion in the waiting room, only to find out when he wakes up that no one can corroborate or confirm his family’s existence. There surely are some obscure secrets waiting to be uncovered in this story.
Haunted - season 2
Haunted is a paranormal documentary anthology series that focuses on real-life horror stories. Each episode features a person or group telling their paranormal experiences, with re-enactments to enhance the horror and fear. The series doesn’t offer any evidence to support the stories, so they might not be entirely “true stories” after all. Still, the way each one is told and re-enacted, along with the cinematography and special effects, make it worth watching - and it’s a good option if you want to get a horror fix.
