It is called Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet. It is coming to the world thanks to Rob McElhenney (of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia fame). It has to do with video games and will be on Apple TV+. Before it premieres in February, though, let’s go over what is known about this TV show and what we hope to see in it, as well.

Know: It’s A Comedy

As expected, Mythic Quest will be a comedy. While it is known that this team can entertain via other genres, fans of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia are looking forward to more raunchy behavior, adult jokes, and crazy scenes.

So, it seems that all of that will be available to viewers when this show premieres on February 7, 2020. As mentioned, it is an Apple TV+ series, though, meaning it won’t be available for everyone; this subscription video service is on iPhones, iPads, iPod touches, Mac computers, and Apple TVs.

Hope: It’s As Funny As Always Sunny

This is not a show about a group of narcissists who own a bar in Philly. However, it is created by two of the brilliant minds behind that series. That being said, we are looking forward to moments that really go there, that push the limits and make viewers laugh in the best way possible.

Always Sunny has been on for 14 seasons, longer than any other U.S. live-action sitcom. It would be a lot to live up to, but hopes are high that McElhenney will deliver something of equal quality.

Know: It Stars Rob McElhenney

This series will star Rob McElhenney, who plays Mac on Always Sunny, as Ian Grimm. It will also feature the following actors and actresses, several of whom have previously starred on popular comedy series: Danny Pudi (Abed from Community) as Brad; F. Murray Abraham as C.W. Longbottom; Ashly Burch as Rachel; Imani Hakim (Tonya Rock in Everybody Hates Chris) as Dana; David Hornsby (Cricket from Always Sunny) as David; Charlotte Nicdao as Poppy; and Jessie Ennis as Jo.

Hope: There Are Some More Celeb Appearances

Mythic Quest has a pretty good cast and centers around a star from an already popular series. It includes known faces from other beloved shows, like Community and Everybody Hates Chris, and even has David Hornsby, who is Matthew “Rickety Cricket” Mara on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

This is just another reason that fans are excited, as Mac and Cricket will be on the screen together again, albeit in a whole new way! Will Danny DeVito show up? Will Charlie Day make a cameo? Will Kaitlin Olson, who stars on Always Sunny and is married to McElhenney, be mentioned?

Know: It’s Written & Produced By Rob McElhenney & Charlie Day

There is more good news for fans of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, as Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet is written and executive produced by Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day!

Always Sunny, which has been on the air since 2005, was created by McElhenney. The executive producers and writers of the show are McElhenney, Day, and Glenn Howerton, with all three actors starring in the sitcom along with Kaitlin Olson and Danny DeVito. Therefore, while Mystic Quest is an entirely different story and setting, viewers can expect to see some humor that is similar to that brought to the world by The Gang.

Hope: There Are Easter Eggs

While it might be unreasonable to expect the entire gang from Paddy’s Pub to appear in Mystic Quest, an Easter egg or two seems likely. Disney, Marvel…all the greats do it, so it would be amazing to hear or see something that references a past person, place, moment, or memory from Always Sunny.

Although a variety of people will be watching Mythic Quest, it is probable that many of them will already be fans of McElhenney, Day, and their brand of humor.

Know: It Is About Video Games

Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet has such an epic title because it is focused on video games. The plot centers around a video game development studio responsible for crafting a game called “Mystic Quest,” although the comedy’s focus is likely to be more on the human relationships within the studio rather than the actual game.

That said, the trailer, which debuted at Ubisoft’s E3 2019 conference, does show McElhenney as a video game character. Whether this character is donning a manly and medieval-inspired ensemble, as seen here, or nothing at all, he sure looks life-like and interesting!

Hope: It Is Full Of Nostalgic & Futuristic Technology

Video games are such a huge part of so many lives. From classic games back in the day, such as Pong and Pac-Man, to the hits of today that can be played online, at competitions, and with virtual reality, this subject is a great topic for a TV show.

Mystic Quest’s setting will be another big appeal for viewers. There may be flashbacks to days at the arcade, or the show may touch-upon a whole new type of technology. Following the inner-workings of a studio should be fascinating.

Know: The First Episode Is Called “Non-Playable Characters”

Back in August of 2018, news came out that a half-hour comedy show by Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day was coming to Apple.

Now, the premiere date is almost here, and many can’t wait for these first nine episodes. The trailer is full of action and humor; furthermore, the title of the first episode, “Non-Playable Characters,” has also been released. Where will this go? What will happen? How much will viewers laugh?

Hope: It Is A Success

Mystic Quest will launch on Apple TV+ on February 7, 2020. It will be funny. It will feature known celebrities. It will center around games. And it may or may not include Easter eggs and nostalgia.
