The NSA spying program to analyze logs of the domestic calls and texts of US citizens is reportedly no longer in use, and the legislation which made it legal may not be renewed when it expires at the end of the year. The National Security Agency’s mass monitoring of logs of phone calls and texts relating to US citizens first began in 2006, some five years after the 9/11 attacks. The program was revealed by Edward Snowden in 2013, and was later declared illegal by a federal appeals court …...

NVIDIA announced a new series of notebook GPU’s today branded as the 700M series. Introduced today are five new graphics cards in total, and NVIDIA said they would be available in a long list of laptops over the next few months. The five new graphics cards include two options aimed at the “mainstream segment”, the 720M and the 735M, while the remaining three, the 740M, 745M, and 750M, will be “for the performance segment” of the market....

Ohio State University teamed up with Apple to build a new app aimed at new college students. As reported by local news outlet 10TV, the app’s goal is to make the transition to college easier for students by connecting to them to services available on campus… 10TV reports that four Buckeye developers traveled to “Apple’s design lab” to learn how to create the program. Research firm Nielsen today published its third-quarter survey of mobile users, confirming that the smartphone market remains a two-horse race between Android and iOS. Google’s smartphone platform grew its share of the smartphone market in the United States by four percentage points, from 39 percent to 43 percent.
