Netflix updated its iPhone and iPad app to version 7.0 today adding optimization for the larger displays on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus introduced in September. Ad Age reports that Chase is running its first TV ad for Apple Pay, focusing on use in small businesses, and featuring Fun lead guitarist Jack Antonoff’s side indie band Bleachers. Chase said that Apple was heavily involved with the ad … The ad, out of creative agency Saatchi & Saatchi, features members of indie pop band Bleachers roaming Los Angeles in the hours leading up to a performance. The musicians make purchases along the way using their Chase Freedom credits cards — but through Apple Pay on their iPhones, not the physical cards....

A new trailer for Dark Phoenix has officially received a rating, meaning that it should get released soon. The movie will occur nearly 10 years after the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, with a highly trained X-Men team regularly going on dangerous missions. A new trademark filed by Nintendo is suggesting the company has plans for more entries in the Mario & Luigi series, even though its previous developer, AlphaDream, went bankrupt in 2019. In 2003, AlphaDream created Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga for the Game Boy Advance, which was an RPG that allowed the player to perform additional interactions during the battle scenes, such as jumping at the correct time to avoid an enemy attack or pressing a button properly in order to deliver a more devastating blow....

Nexomon Extinction is the latest entrant in the monster-taming RPG mobile series from Vewo Interactive and PQube. It is the sequel to Nexomon, which came out back in 2017 and was recently ported for the Steam platform. Even though the game’s overall aesthetic and the gameplay is certainly inspired by the all-time popular Pokemon series, Nexomon: Extinction does a very good job of bringing its own unique touch to the genre....

The Nintendo Switch Pro, or whatever Nintendo is planning on calling their next hardware revision, is rumored to launch near Christmas 2020, but new reports suggest it may be lacking a key modern feature. The Nintendo Switch launched on March 3rd, 2017, and is now fast approaching its third anniversary. The console’s already seen a Switch revision with improved battery life, and Nintendo dropped the portable-only Nintendo Switch Lite on September 20th, 2019....

It was only a matter of time before executives from various automakers responded to news that Apple is looking into developing its own electric vehicle. The first responses come from CEOs of Volkswagen, Daimler and Nissan during interviews at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and the Geneva car show this week. CNET reports that CEO of the Nissan-Renault Alliance Carlos Ghosn responded positively to questions regarding reports of Apple’s electric vehicle project: ”If Apple does it, obviously it’s good news for us,” said Ghosn....

Update: The NYPD has issued a statement in which it says the phones were provided as part of a contract that allowed it to change devices after two years, and that it will begin the switch to iPhone in the fall. It claims that the phones were provided ‘at no cost’ but does not explain how they were paid for. The New York Police Department is being forced to scrap 36,000 Windows Phones bought just two years ago as part of a $160M mobility project....

On Friday, British newspaper The Telegraph reported that the company had been facing two days of outages related to email systems and tools used by developers. “We are investigating an incident. Our business and commercial activities continue uninterrupted. We are still working to evaluate the nature and scope of the event and don’t have any additional information to share at this time,” an NVIDIA spokesperson said on Friday. The spokesperson did not respond to follow up questions about the scope of the attack and whether it was a ransomware incident....
